Massage Therapy with Mike Elkins
Mike moved to Charlotte in 1994 to help open The Southeastern School of Neuromuscular and Massage Therapy. He was the co-owner and the instructor of neuromuscular therapy and functional anatomy through 2005. Mike was also the team massage therapist for the Carolina Panthers from 2002 through 2020. He rejoined the treatment staff for the 2022 season after taking 2021 off.
Mike believes in a straightforward approach when it comes to bodywork. He believes that client education and addressing postural distortions is key. He states that “improved posture leads to enhanced biomechanics/range of motion, decreased compression of joints, nerves and blood vessels, and decreased pain. Increased performance on the athletic field and in the daily activities of life is the result.”
Mike uses a variety of methods to help clients achieve their goals, including neuromuscular therapy, myofascial release, instrument assisted soft tissue therapy, deep tissue massage, and more. He believes that this approach leads to more resilient and adaptive neuromuscular and musculoskeletal systems, helping the client move from sympathetic overdrive-fight or flight to parasympathetic-rest, digest, and heal mode.
